kmShare

Install kmShare

You need both downloads — one machine has the keyboard, the other is controlled. Pair them with a six digit code. The first seven days are free: no card, no account, nothing to cancel.

macOS

macOS 13 or later · Apple Silicon and Intel

Download for Mac

Signed and notarized by Apple — it opens with no warning.

Windows

Windows 10 1809 or later · 64-bit

Download for Windows

Installs per user — no administrator prompt.

Windows will show a warning the first time

“Windows protected your PC.” Click More info, then Run anyway. The installer downloaded from here is not signed with a commercial certificate — it is not a sign that anything is wrong. If you would rather skip it entirely, install kmShare from the Microsoft Store instead: Microsoft signs that package, so there is no warning. I would rather tell you now than let you find out alone.

Setting up — about two minutes

  1. Install on both machines and open kmShare on each.
  2. Choose what each one does. One has the keyboard and mouse you use; the other is the one being controlled.
  3. On the machine with the keyboard, click Show pairing code.
  4. On the other machine, type the six digits. The address is found on your network by itself.
  5. Push the pointer off the edge toward the other screen. It crosses, and the keyboard follows.

On the Mac, one permission

macOS will ask before letting any program move your keyboard and mouse. Go to System Settings → Privacy & Security and turn kmShare on in both:

  1. Accessibility — so it can move the pointer and type
  2. Input Monitoring — so it can read the keyboard when this Mac is the one in charge

Without these macOS ignores the events silently: kmShare runs, gives no error, and nothing happens on screen. If that is what you are seeing, this is why.

If something does not work

kmShare can tell you what is wrong. On Windows, open Diagnostics from the Start menu. On the Mac:

/Applications/kmShare.app/Contents/MacOS/kmshare doctor

It checks the configuration, the pairing, the permission, and whether the other machine answers — and says which one failed. Send me that output and I will sort it out.

When the week is up

kmShare says so and brings you back here. A licence is US$ 9.99 once and covers both of your machines, with no subscription — you get a key by email and paste it into the app.

Not working out? Write within 30 days and I refund it, no questions.
